In today’s fast-paced life, poor lifestyle and dietary habits are common. For instance, people in Hong Kong often work long hours with little exercise. Some jobs even require night shifts, which can be particularly hard on the liver. It’s also common for meals to consist of takeouts or to dine at tea houses and cafes, where the diet leans towards high meat intake, less vegetables, and excessive salt, with seldom home-cooked meals. After work or on holidays, it’s typical to de-stress with friends at a bar or enjoy a BBQ. These lifestyle habits accumulate over time, and although your body may not immediately signal the toll they take, it doesn’t mean there are no underlying health risks. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone should have regular health checks to detect diseases early, get them under control promptly, and reclaim a healthy life.

Benefits of Regular Health Checks:

👍🏻 Efficiently monitor your health status, adjust your personal lifestyle and dietary habits according to the test results, reduce the risk of illness, and potentially save a significant amount in future medical costs.

👍🏻 Early detection of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, which may not present early symptoms.

👍🏻 As we age, our bodily functions naturally decline. Early detection and seeking medical advice can lead to timely treatment and improvement, slowing down the rate of this decline.

👍🏻 Early detection of severe diseases allows for prompt specialist consultation and appropriate treatment, reducing the risk of mortality.

The Basic Health Check includes the following assessments:

  • Physical Examination: Measures such as blood pressure, pulse, Body Mass Index (BMI), and more, to evaluate your basic physical condition and maintain a baseline of your health.
  • Completed Blood Analysis (CBC): In-depth analysis of blood cells to detect anemia, infections, and other blood disorders at an early stage.
  • Diabetes Screening: Through fasting blood sugar tests, which are simple yet crucial for the prevention or management of diabetes.
  • Pulmonary Function Testing: Evaluating your respiratory health with a chest X-ray, essential for screening respiratory issues. (Applicable for individuals aged 12 and above)
  • Cardiovascular Risk Screening: Using a lipid profile test including triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and total cholesterol to monitor heart health.
  • Liver Function Screening: Tests such as alkaline phosphatase, albumin, and total bilirubin provide significant insights into liver health, a key organ for metabolism and detoxification.
  • Renal Function Screening: Important markers like creatinine and urea assess kidney function, reflecting how your body filters waste.
  • Thyroid Function Screening: By measuring free T4 levels, it is crucial for regulating metabolism and checking for thyroid imbalances.
  • Gout Screening: Uric acid levels can indicate your risk for gout, a common and painful form of arthritis.
  • Gastrointestinal Study: Stool occult blood tests help stay vigilant against digestive tract issues.
  • Comprehensive Urinalysis: An 18-item screening for a complete overview of your kidney and urinary tract health.
  • Doctor’s Summary: A summary, evaluation, and recommendations based on the results of the check-up.
